About this place

Horse Ranch Park is an area free of trees along the Kebler Pass Road (Gunnison CR12). It serves as the southern trailhead for the Dark Canyon Trail #830, through the Raggeds Wilderness, and the Dyke Trail #838 to Lake Irwin. A toilet and kiosk are the only facilities available. Dispersed camping is permitted in the adjacent area. As the name implies, it is one of the better places to park, camp, and/or turn-around horse trailers along the Kebler Pass Road. As such, stock users often use the site to park to access the Beckwith Pass Trail #840, just across CR12. From Paonia: Travel northeast on Highway 133 for approximately 15 miles to County Road 12, Kebler Pass Road. Turn right onto CR 12 and continue east for approximately 20 miles. Horse Park is on the left side of CR 12. From Crested Butte: Travel west on County Road 12, Kebler Pass Road, for approximately 12 miles. Horse Ranch Park is on the right side of CR 12.
