About this place

Provides access to South Climb #183 which enters Mt. Adams Wilderness and is a major route to Mt. Adams Summit. This trailhead also accesses Cold Springs Trail #72. Two main parking areas in Cold Springs Camp, at the trailhead, can fill up quickly during the summer season. Drive with caution; traffic can be heavy in the high season. Road is steep and narrow, with sharp switchbacks. No RVs or trailers. For Wilderness travel at low elevations or during the climbing off-season, a wilderness permit is required. Wilderness permits are free and self-issued at the trailhead. Motorized and mechanized uses are not allowed in Wilderness areas. A fee is charged.
