About this place
This heavily used trail begins on the northwest side of Indian Heaven Wilderness. Placid Lake, meadows, wildflowers, and a small lake are features along this trail. A wilderness permit is required. Permits are free and self-issued at the trailhead. Motorized and mechanized uses are not allowed in Wilderness areas. From Carson, WA take Wind River Road/Forest Road 30 north for about 31 miles. Then turn right onto the 420 spur road and follow for about a mile to Placid Lake Trailhead.
