About this place

The Hilltop Trailhead is located near Sweetwater Lake and provides access to the Flat Tops Wilderness and surrounding areas via several trails open to horse and foot traffic. The last 1/4 mile to the trailhead required four-wheel drive and high clearance. Parking is available at a small signed turnout prior to this section of road. Please respect private property in this area. From I-70 Exit 133, follow the Colorado River Rd. for 7 miles and turn left onto Sweetwater Creek Road. Stay on Sweetwater Creek Rd. for 11.5 miles, parking at the Sweetwater Lake Recreation Area or at Hilltop Ranch, which is a 1/4 mile up a short, 4-wheel drive road. This is the Hilltop Trailhead where both Sweetwater and Turret Creek trails begin.
