Trailhead on National Forest land. Head South from Girdwood, AK via the Seward Highway. At milepost 78.9, make a left turn onto take Portage Glacier Road. Continue for 5.2 miles and use the exist for Begich Boggs Visitor Center. Continue along Portage Lake Loop for .4 miles and take a right on Byron Glacier Road. Byron Glacier Trailhead will be on the right after 3/4 mile.
