About this place
This trailhead is located on the east end of Black Canyon Wilderness. Visitors will need to ford the South Fork John Day River to access the Wilderness. From Dayville, Oregon: Head south on County Road 42 and proceed for approximately 9 miles. Stay left at the junction of County Road 42 and South Fork Road to merge onto South Fork Road. Proceed for another 3 miles and Black Canyon East will be on your right.
