About this place

The scenic Bartram Trail is the first trail in Alabama to be designated a National Recreation Trail. The trail runs thru the Tuskegee National Forest for about eight and one half (8 1/2) miles. The Bartram Trail passes through various types of forest wildlife habitat. Trail hikers can see a wide variety of wild flowers and flowering trees, including dogwood and magnolias. Bartram Trail hikers may also get a fleeting glimpse of deer, turkey, or other wildlife as they scurry through the forest. From I-85 take exit 42 and go east towards Columbus GA. Go approximately 3.0 miles to the intersection of US Hwy 8O and US Hwy 29. Turn Left on to US Hwy 29 and go north to Macon county Road 69. The trail head will be on the left across from Macon County Road 69 and Little Texas Fire Department.
