The Upalika trailhead serves as one of several access points to the Victory Section of the Ozark Trail. Named after the one-room schoolhouse that formerly stood near the Victory Trailhead, this isolated section of the Ozark Trail is separated from the Wappapello Lake Section's southern terminus by the Black River and three miles of rugged terrain. The trail follows through heavy oak forests with small meadows and streams providing variety in the landscape. Water is available in creeks along the trail. From Poplar Bluff: Take Highway 67 north for about 6 miles, then turn west on highway 60. Take Hwy 60 about 10 miles and turn right onto Butler County Road 415. Take that for about 2 miles and turn left onto Butler County Road 417. Take Butler County Rd. 417 for about five miles and turn right onto Forest Road 3112. The trailhead will be about a half mile down FR 3112 on the left.
