Trail Lake Trailhead is located in the Wind River foothills south of Dubois and serves as a very popular portal into the lofty high alpine peaks of the Wind River Range and to popular destition areas such as Lake Louis, Ross Lake, Bomber Basin, and the Continental Divide. The trailhead has equestrian amenities, vault toilet, visitor information, picnic tables, and fire rings. There is a 16-day stay limit and food storage is required in accord with the Shoshone tiol Forest Food Storage Order. From Dubois, take US 26/287 south for 3.7 miles and turn right onto Trail Lake Road and proceed for 8.8 miles to the trailhead.
