About this place
Provides access to Cowlitz Horse Trail #44A which enters William O. Douglas Wilderness and connects to Cowlitz Trail #44. A wilderness permit is required to enter the wilderness area. Permits are free and self-issued at the trailhead. Motorized and mechanized uses are prohibited in wilderness areas. Forest Road 4510 to the trailhead is single lane and rough and narrow in places. From Packwood, WA travel east on US-12 for 8.9 miles. Take a left on Forest Road 45 and travel 0.3 miles then continue on Forest Road 4510 for about 4 miles.
