Shuttle Stop 9 includes the trailhead for the Sabino Canyon Trail #23. The trail offers access to the rugged Santa Catalina Front Range, famous for its deep canyons and soaring ridges. The trail intersects the Phoneline Trail #27 about 1/4 mile up some steep switchbacks from the shuttle stop. The trailhead of the Sabino Canyon Trail #23 is located 3.7 miles at the end of a closed road. Hikers may walk or take the shuttle (for a fee) to travel to and from the main parking lot at the visitor center.
