About this place
A moderately steep climb goes 2.5 miles to Sherwin Lakes. This cluster of five lakes are not in the wilderness boundary. If you are camping at Lost Lake or Valentine Lake, a wilderness permit for Valentine Lake trail is required. Download area map for trail names. To purchase more detailed maps or guidebooks of the area, visit sierraforever.org Exit Hwy 395 to Mammoth Lakes on Hwy 203. From the Town of Mammoth Lakes, follow Old Mammoth Rd to Sherwin Creek dirt road. West of Sherwin Creek campground and picnic area there is a small dirt lot marked for trailhead parking to Sherwin Lakes. Beyond Sherwin Campground (east) is the alternate trail to Valentine Lake.
