The Pinchot Upper Trailhead accesses the upper end of the Pinchot Trail. The Pinchot Trail #5413 (Arapeen Route #2) is 5.6 miles long. It begins at Forest Road #50023 and ends at Forest Road #50022. At the trailhead you will find a kiosk with a map of the Pinchot Trail System, unloading ramp, restroom, and parking area. The trail follows along the Twelve-Mile Creek through cedar, pinyon pine and oak brush and then ascends through stands of white fir, choke cherries, elder berries and beautiful wild flowers. From Mayfield, turn east onto Canyon Rd and travel approximately 5.5 miles to junction. Keep left and travel approximately 8 miles to the Upper Pinchot Trailhead.
