About this place
The Elkhorn Creek Trailhead provides direct access to the Elkhorn Creek, Lady Moon, and Disappointment Falls Trails. The Elkhorn Creek and Lady Moon Trails have been significantly rerouted during 2021-2024. Water flow is high at Disappointment Falls in early spring. The Lady Moon Trail passes through 2 large meadows along with open ponderosa pine and quaking aspen stands. The Trailhead contains a parking area, restroom, and information kiosk. The area is within a grazing allotment. Please close all gates. From Fort Collins, Travel 17 miles north on Hwy 287 to The Forks, then turn onto Red Feather lakes Road (CR 74E). Travel 16 miles west and turn left onto Boy Scout Ranch Road (CR 68C), then continue west for 4.5 miles. The trailhead is on the north side of the road.
