About this place
After following the north shore of Convict Lake, this rugged, steep trail climbs a steep, V-shaped canyon with several exposed sections. Within 1.5 miles from the trail's start, sections of the trail have been washed out by flash flooding in 2012 and 2016. Laurel Canyon trail provides alternate access to the upper canyon. Leave Hwy 395 just south of the Mammoth Airport and follow Convict Lake Road. The trailhead starts near the outflow of Convict Lake and follows the North shore. Additional trailhead parking is available near the resort pack station corral.
