The Box Lake Trail is steep and difficult but worth the effort. The route gains 800' in the first mile. The 3.4 mile segment from the Box Lake Trailhead to the south end of Box Lake is desigted non-motorized. The 1.8 mile segment from the south end of Box Lake to the Crestline Trail #109 is open to two-wheel motorized use. From McCall, follow Lick Creek Road approximately 15 miles to the trailhead.
