Trailhead on National Forest land. From U.S. Highway 180 near Aldo Leopold Vista Picnic Area, between mileposts 62 and 63, turn west onto Sacaton Road. Proceed 16.5 miles to Catron County Road 2-6, the Nine-Sixteen Road. Turn east onto Nine-Sixteen Road and proceed approximately 6 miles to the trailhead.
