About this place

This primitive camping area is tucked along the shore of Richland Dam. The 16-acre dam and surrounding mixed-grass prairie is an excellent spot to enjoy fishing and bird songs. Amenities include a boat ramp, fishing ponds, and a vault toilet. Please note, the vault toilet is locked from December 1 to April 1. Please recreate responsibly. From Fort Pierre, SD follow US 83 south for 11.5 miles. Turn west (right) onto War Creek Road. In 3.3 miles, turn south (left) onto 286 Avenue. In 3.5 miles, turn west (right) into Richland Camping Area.
